SIMPLE SPRING HOME STYLING

Hello everyone, and happy March!
Well, it seems like the groundhog got it right this year, as where I live we continue to have so much snow, and it is still quite cold out most days. We even have another blizzard blowing through right as I sit here and write this! However, we did have some sunshine yesterday, so I am holding out hope that spring is not too far around the corner. Though I personally don’t mind the cooler temperatures, I always enjoy being able to freshen things up around our home for a new season. Spring is often where I tend to spend more time really assessing my decor, and how I want to bring our home out of those winter days, and into the newness that would mirror nature and it’s arrival of new life during this season.I am very happy to be joining up with some blogger friends to bring you our Joyful Spring Home Tour Series. We have all been busy changing up our decor for the season, and we are eager to share it with all of you! You’ll be able to find the links to everyone else’s homes at the end of this post. Feel free to get comfy, and to follow along with us on our tours today.

At the very end of April, it will mark just one year of my husband and I being in our new home. As I have mentioned many times before, we used to live in a small apartment, so it has taken us a bit of time to feel that we have our home fully ready to live in, if that makes sense. One of my favourite rooms in our home is the living room, and this is because it is probably where we have spent the most time designing and pulling things together to make it feel complete.

It is also one of the brightest rooms in the house, so that makes it such a nice place to spend time during the day, and then the fireplace brings in a cozy feeling in the cool evenings.

Just a week ago, we chose and hung these curtains up above our big window. It is amazing how much taller it has made the ceiling feel, and how it has just added some texture and brightness to the room. It is probably the most dramatic difference I have seen in what we have done in this space so far, and I am loving it.

Spring florals and greens are of course one of the main ways I like to bring in the season, so you can see lots of that throughout as well.

Using these white florals and greens felt like the perfect way to freshen up my table for a simple spring style. I am also very happy with those new art pieces you can see in the corner there. Wall art really brings a room to life, in my opinion.

Another room I love to add small decorative changes to is our back mudroom. It’s such a bright space that lets the sunshine into our dining room, so it’s nice to walk by and feel that it is included in the seasonal updates in our home.

These little booties and my denim jacket are spring must-have’s for me, for when the weather is still cooler, but not quite cold enough for the winter wear I’ve been used to for months. It’s exciting to change that out in anticipation of warmer days! I also switched up some of my scarves, for lighter weight options.

This cognac tote, paired with my spring florals and eucalyptus, is the main decorative change I made over in this room, and I’m really feeling it!

And for the last bit of the tour, here is a little vignette that I have on the dresser in our bedroom. More eucalyptus (of course) has helped add that transitional feeling in this space. I am working on some updates in here as far as hanging some art, and new bedding, so hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will be able to show you more of this room!

That’s all I have to show you for my spring home! Be sure to stop by the other ladies’ houses on the tour today.

I am so happy you could join me as I share my home with you all today. It has been such a place of joy, and such a peaceful refuge for my husband and I, as we continue to build our life together, and I am so grateful every day that I get to live and create here.

Thank you for stopping by today, friends.

  1. You have done a great job making your home look springy. Retired Albertans in Victoria shiver at the snow and temps in Calgary this spring. Presently 6 degrees here.

“Alexa, set the temperature to 25?”

    1. It has been so, so crazy this year! I had to get the spring going on inside the house in order to stay sane, ha ha. Thanks so much for your comment! 🙂
