A HYGGE HOME

During the winter months of January and February, things can sometimes feel a little dreary. The holidays are over, and where I live we still have to endure a few bitterly cold, dark, and often gloomy months. Though it’s a new year, which can be an exciting time for fresh starts and resolutions, it’s also been coined as the most “depressing” time of the year. Understanding this, I believe that practicing mindfulness in our daily lives is of the utmost importance. I have wanted to write a post on this for quite awhile, and what better time than when people are lamenting the cold weather, and noticing those holiday feelings from the previous month fading further from their minds. SIMPLE WINTER TABLE STYLING

Happy 2020, everyone! I hope you had an absolutely wonderful holiday season; that you were able to slow down an enjoy some moments, and that you made many memories with your loved ones. We are just over a week into a brand new decade - how wild! As we all know, a new year is a time where people across the board do some reflection on their life. Whether that is looking at the past year and taking note of what they enjoyed most and felt good about, or looking ahead to the coming one and determining new goals they want to set, experiences they want to have, or general themes to cultivate, the vast majority of people tend to search themselves for these things and get excited about the promise of a fresh start. I love the idea of being very mindful in our day-to-day, so I think it’s wonderful that the concepts of self-improvement and awareness, as well as gratefulness, are acknowledged on such a grand scale during this time of year. ARCTIC CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR 2017

Well, friends, it’s that time of year! The season that so many of us look forward to all year long.
The time for bundling up in scarves and boots to stay cozy while out in the cold winter air. For strolling through the snow with some hot apple cider at a local Christmas market. The time for seasonal baking with your kiddies, and watching Christmas movies while snuggled up on the couch. For enjoying time spent with friends and family at Christmas parties and dinner gatherings. The time for watching from your windowsill as snow falls gently, illuminated by the twinkling lights on houses up and down the street, with your favourite Christmas songs playing in the background. For giving gifts, thoughtfully wrapped up in pretty packaging. And for sharing in meaningful family traditions that bring joy to your heart.
It’s time Continue reading “ARCTIC CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR 2017”

WINTER FLORALS & COZY PILLOWS

I hope you’re having a wonderful week so far, friends! It has been sunny here and the days are getting warmer (“warmer” for us here in the winter means anything above freezing). Though it makes the roads all mucky and slushy, I definitely am enjoying the sunshine.

Well, I had wanted to get to a winter home tour post for January, but I seem to have been spending a LOT more time outside of the house than in lately, which is actually a bit of a fulfilment for one of my goals for the year. Needless to say, I haven’t quite been able to pull everything together for it that I wanted to. I am also doing a collaborative spring home tour that I will be shooting photos for early-mid February, therefore setting up soon, so I thought I would save the home tour energy for that! However, I have wanted to talk about and share some winter florals I am loving Continue reading “WINTER FLORALS & COZY PILLOWS”

A FRESH NEW YEAR

Hi, friends! I hope you all had an absolutely wonderful Christmas season. We spent time with both family and friends, and were able to relax a little at home by ourselves while Troy was off work. It was so great!
After the hustle and bustle of the holidays, it has been so nice to slow down a bit, get the house back in order, and contemplate what this brand new year should look like. I am typically not one to set New Year’s resolutions, as I feel that I always want (*ahem*…need) to be looking at areas where I can improve, and operate better in my life and in myself. I think reflecting on those things can Continue reading “A FRESH NEW YEAR”
